15-yr-old robbed, shot a teen student while waiting on school bus

A Broadmoor High School student was shot shortly before 7am on Wednesday, Jan. 18th, in Baton Rouge while waiting on the school bus. Unfiltered with Kiran has learned the shooter and student got into a struggle after the suspect attempted to rob him. That’s when the suspect, an expelled student, ended up shooting the 15-yr-old.

The shooting happened on Archery Dr., that’s just off of Florida Blvd. between S. Sherwood Forest Blvd. & S. Flannery Rd., as the 15-yr-old was waiting at the bus stop.

After the shooting, officials said the teenager ran back home saying he had been shot in the chest area. The student shot was transported to a hospital in serious condition.

Since then, a 15-yr-old has been arrested and charged in the shooting of a fellow 15-yr-old. He’s charged with attempted first degree murder, armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and two counts of illegal use of a dangerous weapon.

The suspect had allegedly robbed a different student at the same bus stop on Jan. 4th, 2023 at gunpoint. In that case, the teen is accused of stealing the student’s shoes.

Because of that, Baton Rouge Police says officers had their eyes on the 15-yr-old suspect for the past nearly two weeks for robberies. Officials described the incident as a “crime of opportunity” and one where the victim was not targeted. Police say the suspect appeared to be out and about looking for any opportunities. It’s why officers already knew who the teenager was and when Wednesday morning’s armed robbery and shooting happened, officers were able to quickly arrest the teen suspect.
