BATON ROUGE — A 17-year-old boy has been convicted in the double shooting on LSU’s campus during the 2025 Homecoming game, the East Baton Rouge Parish district attorney said.
Kyiveon Keller was 16 when he was arrested and was tried in juvenile court. He was found guilty Tuesday of two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count each of illegal carrying of a firearm on school property and illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile, District Attorney Hillar Moore said in a news release.
Generally, the identities of children tried in juvenile court cannot be released. In this case it could be released because Keller was accused of a crime of violence, Moore said. UWK has requested a booking image of Keller.

BATON ROUGE — A woman who was tailgating near the scene of a double shooting on LSU’s campus Saturday night is recounting the terrifying experience.
“I heard the shots being fired, I looked up and saw the stampede. You don’t believe it’s true,” the witness described. “I yelled immediately when I heard it, I said, ‘Shots fired!’ to our tailgate people, and they just looked at me. When we looked up, it was just a stampede of people coming for us.”
UWK spoke with the woman who was tailgating across the street from the scene of the shooting. It happened after 8 p.m. on Oct. 11th near Highland Road, between Dalrymple & Veterans Drives during the LSU/South Carolina football game.
“People started screaming and running and yelling, ‘They’re shooting! They’re shooting! Don’t fire!’ They were like screaming it. I’m talking a couple hundred to a thousand people coming at me,” the witness said.
The woman said she grabbed her granddaughter, went into a parking lot, and hid behind a big truck. “People are running past us and screaming. And you don’t know if the gun was coming that way, and you don’t know what it was. It was terrifying,” she said.
The witness’ eight-month-pregnant daughter was also at the tailgate with her. “I yelled for her to come, but she didn’t hear me. Another lady at our tailgate grabbed her by the hair and just pulled her into the parking lot with me,” she said.

BRPD arrested a 16-year-old boy for his connection to the shooting, which they say stemmed from a fight. He will be booked in the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention center, and is being charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, illegal possession of a weapon by a juvenile, and carrying a firearm on school property.
