A four-vehicle crash on Airline Hwy. south of Hwy 431 in Ascension Parish left a 20-yr-old from Maurepas, dead.
The wreck happened early Tuesday morning on Jan. 17th. Cameron Hall, 20, of Maurepas, was killed in the crash.
The initial investigation shows Trent Lessard of Prairieville was driving a 2013 Honda Civic. Lessard was headed north on Airline Hwy. in the left lane. For unknown reasons, Louisiana State Police troopers say Lessard veered to the left, crossed the median into oncoming traffic. That’s when he hit a 2011 Toyota Tundra head-on.
At the same time, a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze and 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe were behind the Tundra in the left lane. The driver of the Cruze tried to get out of the way of the head-on crash but ended up hitting the Tundra. That triggered the Tahoa and Cruze colliding.
Hall was the front passenger of the Civic, was not buckled and died at the scene. Lessard was not buckled at the time of the crash and had moderate injuries.
The drivers of the Tundra and Cruze were properly restrained at the time of the crash. Both were transported to a local hospital to be treated for moderate injuries. The driver of the Tahoe was also properly buckled and denied having any injuries in the crash.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was taken from all drivers and will be submitted for scientific analysis. Any criminal or traffic violations discovered in the ongoing investigation will be forwarded to the Ascension Parish District Attorney’s Office.
