SORRENTO —- A 21-year-old woman from Prairieville died in an overnight crash in Ascension Parish.
It was after 12:40 a.m. on June 27, when Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA 22 at Old Highway 22 in Ascension Parish.
Shelby Molea, 21, of Prairieville, died in the crash.
The investigation so far shows Molea was driving a 2019 Jeep Compass east on LA 22. For reasons still under investigation, Molea did not turn into the left-hand curve and went off the roadway into a ditch and overturned.
Troopers say Molea was not buckled and was ejected from the vehicle. She died on the scene. At this time, impairment is unknown. A routine toxicology sample was collected and submitted for analysis.
This crash is still under investigation.
