BATON ROUGE — A man who is accused of using a knife to stab and severely wound his father is now wanted by police after he allegedly cut off his ankle monitor and violated his bond conditions. This comes just a week after a bond reduction hearing for the 22-year-old man.
Police arrested Jeremiah Gill, 22, in January after they responded to a reported stabbing in the 800 block of Myrtle St. in Baker. Jeremiah’s father, Emanuel Gill, had severe stab wounds to his face and head. A judge set Gill’s bond at $100,000.
According to court records, Jeremiah Gill’s legal team filed a motion for a bond reduction hearing. That hearing was held on July 28, where his bond was reduced to $25,000. In addition, bond conditions included that Gill would be released to a representative from Human Services Foundation Transitional Housing, sign up for GPS monitoring through Criminal Justice Service, and abide by the protective order amended in court.
On Aug. 4, a Criminal Justice Service representative sent a report to the Court concerning Gill. The report stated that Gill had cut off his GPS ankle monitor and left treatment, according to court records. The judge ordered a bench warrant for Gill’s arrest for violating his bond conditions.

BAKER — Police arrested a 22-year-old man who they say used a knife to severely wound his father. Baker Police were called out to a reported stabbing in the 800 block of Myrtle St. around 6:30 a.m. Jan. 16.
Police found Emanuel Gill with severe stab wounds to his face and head, and believe he was attacked while he was in bed. Police said the wounds extended from the top of his head into his neck, causing significant blood loss. He was rushed to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
The scene
Officers said there was a blood trail in the hallway leading to a bedroom, which they determined belonged to Emanuel’s son, Jeremiah Gill. They says they found blood on his bedroom wall, floor, and bed.
Baker Police arrested Jeremiah at the scene. They said he had blood and cuts on his hands and fingers, which they later found inside the patrol car, and he was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. He is charged with attempted second-degree murder and domestic abuse battery with a dangerous weapon.
Police also say they found a butcher block in the kitchen, where the knife used in the alleged crime had been stored. Police discovered the knife they believe was used in a garbage can outside the home.
Victim and witness statements
A police captain interviewed Emanuel at the hospital. He told police he was lying in bed with the door open when his son Jeremiah came in and jumped on him without warning. He said he was able to kick his son off of him, but they continued fighting into the hallway, and he started yelling for police. Emanuel said he was eventually able to restrain Jeremiah in his bedroom, and didn’t realize he’d been stabbed until after everything played out.
Officers also talked with Emanuel’s wife and Jeremiah’s mother, Chanquetta Gill, who said she was taking a shower when she heard something. When she left the bathroom, she saw her husband and son in a physical altercation on the hallway floor, and her husband was yelling for her to call the police. She said she later saw a knife on the floor and moved it away from her son to try and prevent any more injuries.
