23-yr-old killed in deadly wreck on Hwy. 61

A 23-yr-old man was killed late Saturday night on November 12 just before 11pm in a crash involving three vehicle.

State Police Troopers responded to the intersection of US 61 and LA 64 in East Baton Rouge Parish.

John Anthony Dante` Daniels, 23, of Wakefield in West Feliciana Parish, died in the crash.

The preliminary investigation shows that Edward Poray Frank of Port Allen was driving a 2018 Toyota Tundra south on US 61 at a high speed. At the same time, a 2013 Nissan Maxima driven by Daniels was stopped behind a 2008 Toyota Prius at the traffic light southbound on US 61.

For an unknown reason, the Tundra rear-ended Daniels forcing a collision between the Maxima and the Prius.

Despite being buckled, Daniels died on the scene.

Frank was also properly restrained and transported to a local hospital for some moderate injuries.

While it is unclear if the driver of the Prius was buckled, he did have some minor injuries.

As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was taken from all drivers and will be submitted for analysis. At
this time, it is unknown if impairment is a factor.

Any criminal or traffic violations discovered in the ongoing investigation will be forwarded to the East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office.
