What started as an argument over a cat scratching a baby turned physical with a 33-yr-old man arrested accused of choking his 18-month old’s mother while she was holding the baby.
An East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputy said Tyler Stonaker was arrested for felony domestic abuse battery by strangulation after an argument.
The victim in the case told the deputy after the argument, she grabbed her purse to leave and Stonaker “grabbed the purse twisting the chain link straps causing a small cut to her hand.”
After Stonaker allegedly started yelling, the victim said she told “Alexa” to call 911 but that Stonaker “unplugged the Alexa.” That’s when the victim said Stonaker allegedly “grabbed her by her throat with two hands and started choking her. She advised their 18-month-old was in their hands.”
The victim said she never lost consciousness and the choking lasted about 30 seconds. The responding deputy did notice red marks around the victim’s neck and a cut to her finger.
While on scene, Stonaker did return home and confessed to the deputy they did get into an argument and choked the victim for 2-3 seconds when he released as soon as he realized what he was doing. He told the deputy this was the first time the couple had ever gotten into a physical argument.
Stonaker also had a bench warrant for a seat belt violation. His bond was set at $3,500.
