4th of July events: Fireworks, concerts & food across south Louisiana

BATON ROUGE — South Louisiana will be full of fireworks, concerts, and plenty of food this July 4th, with events planned across the Baton Rouge area.

The celebration of America’s independence will include everything from traditional parades to concerts and, of course, the star of the show—the annual Fireworks on the Mississippi, with plenty of spots to watch on both sides of the river!

If you’re looking for the best place to watch the fireworks light up the sky, UWK has you covered in Baton Rouge and the surrounding parishes.

July 3rd events:

Ascension Parish

  • Fireworks on the River: Kick off your 4th of July weekend in Donaldsonville! Wednesday 4-10 p.m; Crescent Park. Live music, food trucks, shopping

East Baton Rouge Parish

  • Kenilworth Independence Day Parade: The 52nd annual Kenilworth Independence Day Parade will take place on July 3rd at 6:30 p.m. with the theme of ‘We the People,’ celebrating all those who make the country great, including attendees.

East Baton Rouge Parish

  • Fireworks on the Mississippi: Most patriotic of all is the annual fireworks show in Downtown Baton Rouge over the Mississippi River! Baton Rouge’s Fourth of July Spectacular welcomes thousands of guests from around the country dressed in their best red, white and blue attire for an evening-long event of fun, ending with a breathtaking fireworks display overlooking the mighty Mississippi River.   • Red White and Blues: 4th of July Fest: Red White & Blues, produced by the Baton Rouge Blues Festival & Foundation, is a free festival in Rhorer Plaza on July 4th at 6:00 p.m., before the Fireworks on The Mississippi. Bring your tailgate chairs and battery fans to enjoy a free concert featuring local blues legend Chris LeBlanc. Food vendors are available at this family-friendly event, but no cash bar. Come on out for a free 4th of July celebration, y’all!
  • 4th of July Rooftop Celebration: Come and Join LSU’s Museum of the Arts and Tsunami Downtown Baton Rouge’s celebration of July 4th. Come eat, drink, & relax as we celebrate our independence & freedom, while overlooking historic downtown Baton Rouge and the mighty Mississippi River. VIP Tickets $165; General Admission Tickets $85; Viewing Only Tickets $25

  • Fourth of July at The Deck: Celebrate the Fourth of July at The Deck at Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center. On July 4, 2024, enjoy the best view of the Mississippi River fireworks at 9:00 p.m. In-house guests get free access, while VIP tickets for locals and travelers are $25 via ResortPass. Enjoy the hotel’s outdoor pool, live music, and a menu featuring Cajun Chicken Wings and Smashed Heidelburger, alongside refreshing cocktails like the Strawberry Mint Smash.
  • 4th of July Concert by Baton Rouge Concert Band: Join us on the 4th of July for a concert performed by the Baton Rouge Concert Band – an all-volunteer group of almost 60 musicians. Revel in the natural beauty of our country through compositions like “America, The Beautiful” and “Sunrise at Angel’s Gate”. Be reminded of the spirit that built our country through compositions like “American Salute”, “An American Fanfare”, and “Within These Hallowed Halls”. The concert will be on the Plaza at the Main Branch of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library (7711 Goodwood Blvd.). Show starts at 7:00 pm. Be sure to wear your red, white, and blue; bring your flags to wave; and don’t forget your water!
  • Fourth of July at L’Auberge Baton Rouge: Spread out a blanket and enjoy a family-friendly evening under the fireworks at our lawn party. Fun starts at 7 p.m.; Fireworks show at 9 p.m. Enjoy refreshments from food trucks – ChimiZone, Country Boy Smokers, Joel’s Lobster Rolls, Palo Rojo Taco, Peach Cobbler Factory and Sneaux Season. All ages welcome!
  • 4th of July Live Music Party: Crowne Plaza Executive Center Baton Rouge is hosting live music all 4th of July weekend.
    July 4th – Eddie Smith Band & Ribeye Dinner $30;
    July 5th Terrell Griffin & Velvet Audio & Seafood Buffet $40; BBQ Dinner $20
    July 6th Dustin Lee Guedry & BBQ Dinner $20.

West Baton Rouge Parish

  • Fourth Fest: Come to the Westside for the Best View of Fourth Fest and Fireworks! Held July 4th in downtown Port Allen at the Riverfront on the Mississippi River Levee. The fun starts annually at 4:00pm and ends at 10:30pm. Free to the public and includes face painting, magicians, clowns and space walks for the children. Beverage & food vendors line the levee for all to enjoy. Live entertainment with several local bands allow the crowds plenty of dance music to enjoy before and after the spectacular fireworks show on the river. All brought to you by WBR Parks & Recreation and the City of Port Allen.

Pointe Coupee Parish

  • Fourth of July Celebrations at False River: The City of New Roads is hosting a celebration from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Morrison Parkway. Fireworks start at 9 p.m. There will be food, drinks, a boat parade, a golf cart parade, and live music by Total Control Band.

Iberville Parish

  • July 4th Hometown Celebration: The City of Plaquemine is hosting its 23rd annual July 4th Hometown Celebration. The family-friendly event starts at 5 p.m. at the Plaquemine Community Center and Pavilion at 57845 Foundry Street. There will be food, over 30 craft booths, free rides for the kids, games, dancing, a boat parade honoring veterans, a veterans ceremony, and a Jitter Bug dance contest. The Justin Cornett Band will provide live music. There will also be a fireworks display and patriotic music starts at 9 p.m. See flyer here
  • Independence Day Celebration: 2-9 p.m.; Live performances by Tyler Kinchen & The Rigth Pieces; Fireworks dhow at 9 p.m. St. Gabriel Community Centet

Tangipahoa Parish

  • Light up the Sky Fireworks: The Light Up the Sky event—which begins at 6 p.m. on July 4, 2024—draws hundreds to historic Zemurray Park where we will have food trucks; a DJ entertains the crowd with music; kids play on the inflatables, and ride the miniature train.

West Feliciana Parish

  • 4th of July at Parker Park: Celebrate the 4th of July in downtown St. Francisville. Music: Trey & Lexi Pendley (6-7 p.m.) & Levee Road Revue (7-9 p.m.); Commerce Street between Burnett Road and Ferdinand Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between 4pm-10pm.
