61-year-old man killed near Mid City Tuesday

BATON ROUGE — The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating the city’s 26th homicide: the death of a 61-year-old man.

The deadly shooting happened around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of S. 18th St. That’s off North Blvd. between Convention St. and Government St. and is near New Sunlight Baptist Church.

Police responded to a call for a shooting and found Dwain Fleming. He died at the scene. Police have not yet released a motive or information on a suspect.

This homicide is the 26th within the city limits of Baton Rouge so far this year.
