69-yr-old shot while asleep in his own bed

Just before midnight, a 69-yr-old man was shot on St. Katherine Ave. near Banks St.

The man told officers he was asleep in his bed when he was shot in the back on Aug. 3, 2022.

He lives in the 5900 block of St. Katherine Ave.

A little while later, a 16-yr-old woman arrived at a Baton Rouge hospital saying she too had been shot on St. Katherine Ave. She lives in the 6000 block of St. Katherine Ave.

It appears it may have been a drive-by shooting in which two people in two separate homes became victims.

About a mile away around 10:15pm, BRPD officers responded to the 5500 block of Dutton Ave. for a shooting.

There, they found 21-yr-old Sheldon Gales in the driver’s seat of a blue Nissan Altima. He died at the scene.
