83-year-old man dies from Donaldsonville house fire.

An 83-year-old man died in a Donaldsonville house fire when the home was burnt to the ground.

The Donaldsonville Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 3000 block of Caesar Lane on Nov 30th. When they arrived, they found a badly burned 83-year-old in the driveway who was surrounded by his neighbors who helped pull him from the fiery home.

He was transported to a local hospital, but he died on Dec. 2nd from his injuries.

Identification of the 83-year old man is still pending with the Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office.

Louisiana State Fire Marshall deputies collected witness statements and determined the fire started in a room in the northwest area of the home.

They are still investigating the cause of the fire.

The deputies could not locate any working smoke alarms at the home, and they wish to encourage the importance of smoke alarms in providing life-saving responses.
