BATON ROUGE —- A two-year-old boy has died after he was able to get to a gun and shot himself, officials confirm to UWK.
It was around 2:20 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4th when Baton Rouge Police officers responded to the 1700 block of Sora St. That’s off of Scotland Ave. near Scenic Highway in Baton Rouge.
At the scene, officials tell UWK that Devonte Chambers, 2, was somehow able to get to a gun and shot himself.
Paramedics rushed the little boy to Children’s Hospital but he did not survive his injuries.
Since the deadly incident, Chambers’ dad has been arrested and charged with negligent homicide. His name is also Devonte Chambers, 29.
