Addis Police investigating first shooting of 2022


Addis Police Chief Ricky Anderson said there was a shooting just after 8pm on Belle Vue Dr. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

One person was shot in the chest and transported to a hospital.

Chief Anderson said the preliminary investigation reveals Leslie Gomez, 33, went to Robert Martin’s home on Belle Vue Dr. in Addis. That’s when police said the the two got into an argument and Martin, 36, pulled out a gun and allegedly shot Gomez once.

The bullet went through & through and punctured Gomez’ lung. He is expected to make it.

Police have recovered the gun and shell casings.

Martin was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder.

Chief Anderson said this is the first shooting of 2022 within the city limits of Addis.

The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the investigation and in collecting evidence.
