ADDIS — A school bus driver has been ticketed after a crash with an occupied bus Tuesday morning in Addis.

It was around 7:15 a.m. on April 23, 2024 when an Iberville Charter Academy school bus driver missed a stop and was attempting to return to the stop by cutting through the First Bank parking lot. That’s in the 7500 block of Hwy. 1 south in West Baton Rouge Parish.

“He missed a stop so he was trying to loop back around to get back to Chris Drive and cut too short and hit the bank drive-thru,” said Addis Asst. Police Chief Jason Langlois. “It hit the passenger side, busted out some windows and messed up part of the bank.”

In total, seven children were transported to area hospitals. All suffered minor injuries, according to officials. Fourteen children in total were on the school bus. Parents of the rest of the children on the school bus did come pick them up.

The bank does have damage to its building as well.

The driver was ticketed after the Addis school bus crash for reckless driving.
