
KENTWOOD — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a deadly shooting outside a Kentwood Bar.
TPSO deputies arrested John McGowan and charged him with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Marco Dillon.
TPSO’s Deputy Chief Jimmy Travis said around 9:30pm, they received a call for a disturbance and shooting.
Their investigation so far reveals there was an altercation outside the bar at Back Road 40 on Hwy. 1051 in Kentwood and several people were told to leave. During the altercation, McGowan shot Dillon in the chest.
Dillon was transported to Hood Memorial Hospital by ambulance, where he succumbed to his injuries.
“This one guy left and came back with a gun. He was having words with one of the other customers and pulled his gun out and shot the guy in the chest. The victim died from his injuries.” said Deputy Chief Travis. “When they were told to leave, one of the patrons returned with a gun and fired a shot, killed the victim.”
McGowan was also charged with one count possession of a firearm inside an alcoholic beverage outlet an one count protective order violation. Officials say at the time of the arrest, McGowan also had an outstanding warrant for one count aggravated domestic abuse battery.
