APSO investigating shooting at Popeyes in Dutchtown

DUTCHTOWN — The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting inside the Popeyes on Hwy. 73 in Dutchtown.

It happened around 5pm on Saturday, Oct. 14. Deputies are on scene still trying to piece together exactly what happened.

Early reports indicate two people had an argument, possibly an ongoing argument, with a Popeyes employee and that’s what led up to several shots exchanged between the two parties.

APSO now says one person appears to have been shot and took themselves to a hospital for treatment. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time. It appears the two people who walked into the Dutchtown Popeyes fled in a vehicle and then drove to a hospital. A Popeyes employee has also been detained.

Anyone with any information is asked to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office anonymously at 225-621-4636 or by texting 847411 to the anonymous tip line from any cellular device or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867). You must call Capital Region Crime Stoppers to receive a cash reward.
