APSO makes 2nd arrest in Prairieville homicide

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office made a second arrest in connection to a September homicide in Prairieville.

Officials say detectives arrested Ashtin Ursin, 21, in connection with the homicide of Jasper Dorsey Jr. Ursin is charged with second-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, criminal street gangs and patterns of criminal street gangs activity, accessories after the fact, and illegal possession of stolen things of $5k-$25k.

Authorities responded to the shooting on Oak Meadows Street in Gonzales on September 30, 2022. Officials say when deputies arrived they saw Dorsey dead inside his car from multiple gunshot wounds.

Dorsey was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. Detectives previously arrested Gregory Magee Jr., 21 in relation to this homicide. He remains booked in the Ascension Parish Jail on several charges including second-degree murder.

This is an ongoing investigation.
