APSO searching for suspect accused of attacking, robbing 72-year-old

DONALDSONVILLE — Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives are searching for a Donaldsonville man accused of robbing and beating a 72-year-old.

APSO officials say deputies responded to a residence on Charles Street about a robbery. When the deputies arrived, they found a 72-year-old man injured on his front porch.

Authorities say the victim told deputies that his wallet was stolen after a man attacked him. The man fled the scene after the attack. The suspect was identified as Vonzell Batiste.

Detectives had a warrant for Batiste’s arrest for one count of second-degree robbery and one count of second-degree battery.
