Argument leads to inmate’s death at Angola

WEST FELICIANA — The Louisiana Department of Corrections and the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office have launched a joint investigation into the death of an inmate at Angola.

Robert Clark Jr., 45, died while at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, also known as Angola.

Around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, while making routine rounds, correctional officers responded to an argument between Clark and three other inmates. The officers were able to regain control of the situation. Prison medical staff immediately started treatment on Clark, but he died a short time later from his injuries.
