Armed robbery suspect arrested, crashed car into home

An armed robbery suspect was arrested Wednesday afternoon after leading law enforcement on a pursuit through Gonzales. As a precaution, Gonzales Middle was placed on lockdown for a short time.

Officials say Ricky Williams Jr., 18, was arrested for his involvement.

Authorities say at around 2 p.m. on Oct. 26, two victims were approached by an armed male at Bayou Terrace Shopping Center demanding their vehicle.

The victims called 911 as the subject left the parking lot.

An Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the vehicle and attempted a stop. A pursuit began in the city of Gonzales through residential areas.

The suspect crashed the vehicle into a home located at the corner of Orice Roth and Darla Street.

Officials say law enforcement briefly locked down Gonzales Middle School, given its proximity to the incident, and a late dismissal of students was carried out under the escort of law enforcement out of an abundance of caution.

Additional arrests may be made.
