Arrest made after drive-by shooting in Ascension Parish

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Devontia Thompson, 23, on several charges including attempted first-degree murder.

Deputies responded to John Leblanc Blvd. in Sorrento around 6am on Friday, Aug. 12th.

A woman told deputies a vehicle was following her and eventually someone in the car fired a gun that hit her vehicle.

No one was injured and deputies do not have any motives at this time.

Thompson was arrested for attempted first-degree murder, assault by drive-by shooting, illegal possession of firearms, aggravated criminal damage to property, possession of firearm by a convicted felon & illegal use of weapons/aggravated assault.
