Arrest made in Mehki Darville’s murder

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in the shooting death of 17-year-old Mehki Darville, who was killed at the Fuel Smart in Gonzales on Nov. 11.


On Nov. 25th, deputies arrested Jamal Holloway, 18, and charged him with one count of principal to second-degree murder. Officials say Holloway was located and arrested in Sorrento. Neighbors told authorities they witnessed Holloway and two others climbing through a bedroom window, known to be that of a juvenile. The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified and apprehended the three individuals.

Darville had just picked up two of his friends after a football game at East Ascension High when someone shot at the trio. Darville was transported to the hospital, but died from his injuries.

Holloway is one of three arrests made so far in Darville’s death, according to the Gonzales Police Department. More arrests are expected. As always, anyone with any information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP or submit an online tip anonymously.
