According to the Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s Office, Damarion Simmons, 17, who was arrested in conjunction with the vehicle thefts in Pointe Coupee Parish has escaped from a juvenile facility in St. Martinville.
Officials say the escaped happened around 7pm Wednesday night. Officials said Simmons has previously escaped numerous juvenile detention centers around the state.
“We believe that he may make his way back to Pointe Coupee Parish. Please use caution. Lock your vehicle doors, remove the keys, and if you see anything suspicious or have any information on his whereabouts, please call 225-694-3737,” said Sheriff Rene Thibodeaux of the PCPSO.
Sheriff Thibodeaux was furious when two of the three teens were arrested but had to be released because there was no room at any juvenile detention center in Louisiana.
Simmons however, possibly the main culprit, Sheriff Thibodeaux said he would do anything to make sure he was locked up and not released. It’s why when he was finally arrested, the sheriff made sure he had a place to go. He went to a juvenile detention center in St. Martinville, but has since escaped. Sources tell Unfiltered with Kiran it was at least a few hours, possibly the next morning, when officials realized Simmons had escaped.
Simmons was arrested over two stolen vehicles on Christmas day in Pointe Coupee Parish.
