BRUSLY — Two people have been arrested following a high-speed chase through Brusly involving State Police, sources tell UWK.
According to sources, the State Police drug interdiction team was pursuing a vehicle before 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Brusly Police deployed spike strips to slow the vehicle as it approached Brusly Upper Elementary.
The chase ended in a crash in an empty field near Louisiana Bayou Bistro, just a few hundred yards from where Caroline Gill and Maggie Dunn were tragically killed during a high-speed pursuit in 2022. In that incident, an Addis Police officer was assisting Baton Rouge Police in pursuing a stolen car.
Today would have been Dunn’s 19th birthday. Her mother, Erin Martin, was visiting her gravesite when she heard the same sounds that led to her daughter’s death.

There have been limited details about Friday’s chase and crash. State Police is the lead investigating agency.
Two people were arrested, but officials have not released their exact charges at this time.

My heart goes out to this mother. Especially when today would’ve been her 19th birthday and to hear these sirens and high speed chase that kill her daughter. They need to stop 🛑 these high speed chases.
