ASCENSION — The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an interstate shooting that happened Sunday afternoon. This is the second interstate shooting in the Baton Rouge area this weekend. The first happened late Saturday night on Interstate 110 in Baton Rouge with a 22-year-old man shot while driving. He died on the scene from his injuries.
The most recent one happened around 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18 at the Ascension & East Baton Rouge parish line on Interstate 10 westbound. UWK has learned the driver of an 18-wheeler and the victim got into ‘road rage’ argument. That’s when the victim allegedly got out of his vehicle and was shot, sources tell UWK.
The 18-wheeler fled while the victim got off I-10 at the Highland exit in East Baton Rouge Parish and went to a fire department. That’s where he told officials he had been shot on the interstate.
Paramedics responded and the victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
No further details have been released at this time into the Ascension interstate shooting as officials try to piece together exactly what happened and determine a motive.
