Ascension deputy arrested, accused of selling contraband to inmates

An Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office employee was arrested and fired on Monday, Nov. 7th accused of providing inmates contraband.

Correctional Officer Adam Sylve was arrested after an investigation of contraband taken into the Ascension Parish Jail. He is charged with four-counts of introduction of contraband into a penal facility and malfeasance in office.

Sylve was employed in the Corrections Division with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at the time.

“We will continue to hold our deputies to the highest standards. While we cannot always control their actions, we will hold them accountable for their wrongdoings.” said APSO Sheriff Bobby Webre.  

Detectives began investigating Sylve after learning that Sylve allegedly took contraband into the jail on at least four separate occasions. Sources tell Unfiltered with Kiran that Sylve was receiving payments via CashApp.

Sheriff Webre said Sylve admitted to the transactions during an interview. It’s why he’s was fired from the APSO effective immediately. He was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.

Sylve had been employed with the APSO for approximately four months having started in July.

This is an ongoing investigation. Further arrest(s) may be pending.
