Ascension employee fired & arrested for allegedly urinating in a water tank

DONALDSONVILLE, La. — Michael Mastin, 57, of Baton Rouge was arrested for two counts contaminating water supplies and two counts criminal damage to a critical infrastructure on March 22nd.

The arrest came after the Ascension Parish government was informed on March 22nd that an employee at the Donaldsonville water plant may have urinated in the water supply.

Ascension Parish President Clint Cointment said he immediately launched an investigation and the “administration unfortunately determined the report was credible.”

“As Parish President, I am extremely disappointed, and I find this conduct disgusting and unacceptable. This type of behavior will never be tolerated in parish government. Since the beginning of this administration we have held our parish employees accountable and this is no exception. I demand accountability on behalf of the public,” said Cointment in a media release.

At no time was the public in danger. All water samples taken to date are in good standing and meet all safe water drinking requirements.

The administration reported this incident to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office and federal and state authorities.

APSO started investigating Mastin immediately upon receiving a report from Ascension Parish Utilities.

Detectives received information that corroborated reports or Mastin allegedly urinating in a water tank at a Water Treatment Facility in Donaldsonville, where Mastin worked.

Mastin was terminated, and detectives executed a warrant for his arrest. He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail & more charges may be pending.

This is an ongoing investigation; further details may be limited at this time.

  1. Wait, you tilted the camera that you know is there up so it would not record you unzipping your pants. But it is plan as day what you are doing!! And later, when you re tilted the camera down, you can see what you did!!
    Talk about a jacka$$!!!

  2. Ok. I was about to get all hostile over this until I watched the video of him urinating. First of all he did not urninate into a drinking water storage tank.He urninated into a water Clarifier. It is a price of equipment that takes in water, likely from the Mississippi river, seperates the dirt from the water with a flocculant that makes all the sediment sink to the bottom. Then the water is moved to other processes like RO units, filters, etc. So basically he unrinated into dirty river water. Not a good look but he did not harm anyone as this was just the beginning of the water treatment process. There were worse things in that water than urnine. Trust me.
