83-yr-old with dementia arrested for wife’s second degree murder

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting in which officials say a husband with dementia shot and killed his wife.

Marvin Stephens, 83, of Prairieville, was arrested and charged with second degree murder and illegal use of weapons. He is now awaiting an arraignment.

It happened on John Broussard Rd. near Hwy 42 on March 30, 2022 around 2pm.

Officials said Stephens’ wife Patricia was airlifted to a hospital where she died from her injuries. The wife was possibly in her 70s.
