The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a murder-suicide from Sunday night, Jan. 30th, in Donaldsonville.

The shooting happened at a Chevron on Hwy. 1 on West. 10th St. around 8:15pm.

Officials said Charlotte Smith, 36, of Donaldsonville was found dead with a single gunshot wound to the head. Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies say Raymond Shields, 38, allegedly shot and killed Smith and then left her at the scene. Deputies received information that Shields was located in the parking lot of a business on Loop 945 St. Upon arrival to the second location, deputies found Shields in his car dead from a single gunshot wound to the head. Deputies also found a gun in Shields’ hand.

Sources tell Unfiltered with Kiran Smith and Shields were having an affair and that Smith may have been pregnant with his baby. After an argument, she threatened to tell his wife everything when the incident unfolded.
