Ascension Parish investigating occupants of vehicle “opening fire” on another vehicle

Ascension Parish investigating a shooting where the occupants of a vehicle "opened fire" on another vehicle.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a late-night shooting that happened around 11:45pm on April 1, 2022.

Ascension Sheriff Bobby Weber said the victims were at a light when the occupants of another vehicles ‘opened fire.’ That vehicle then fled the scene before deputies arrived.

The shooting was at Highway 30 and Ashland Dr.

Deputies found a man in the driver side of a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Another man was in the passenger side of the vehicle. He had cuts and bruises from the glass shattering from the bullets. He was also transported to an area hospital for minor injuries.
