PRAIRIEVILLE — Ascension Parish is mourning the loss of fire chief Byron “Bo” Lynn James.
James, 68, was the fire chief of the Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He was in the fire service for 18 years, and well respected by Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre.
“Bo was more than a colleague – he was a brother in service and a great leader in our community,” Webre said in a Facebook post. “He was a man whose courage and compassion touched countless lives, always putting others before self. Thank you, Bo, for helping protect Ascension. Your legacy will live on in the hearts of all those you served and loved.”
According to his obituary, James was maried to his wife Karen for 29 years. The couple had two daughters, three bonus daughters and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales on Monday, September 16, 2024, from 5 pm to 9 pm and on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 9 am until the funeral Service at 11 am. Burial to be held at Colyell Cemetery in Livingston Parish.
