PRAIRIEVILLE —- A 57-year-old Prairieville man has died after a crash on Hwy. 42 on Saturday night.
It was just before midnight on December 21, 2024, when State Police troopers responded to a crash on Hwy. 42 near Hwy. 929 in Ascension Parish. The crash involved a single vehicle.
Richard Creel, 57, of Prairieville, died in the crash.
The investigation so far shows that Creel was driving a 2000 Ford F-250 and headed west on Hwy. 42, just west of Hornsby Road. For reasons still under investigation, Creel did not turn left and instead, went off the roadway to the right before hitting a tree.
Troopers say Creel was properly buckled at the time of the crash but did not survive the crash. Impairment is not suspected, but per standard procedure, a toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
