PRAIRIEVILLE — The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office broke ground Thursday on what will become the new headquarter for district 3, looking ahead to the “positive impact” the facility will provide the parish. District 3 covers Geismar, Prairieville, Dutchtown and the Industrial Corridor, all of which have experienced large growth in recent years.
The location is currently an old bank building, located at 38022 Henry Road in Prairieville. Once completed, the headquarters will be 6,000 square feet and include a 350-foot radio tower that will provide better communications among entities, said APSO Sheriff Bobby Webre.
The new district 3 headquarter will also offer new “state of the art” technology.
“This facility represents our unwavering commitment to enhance public safety and provide our law enforcement deputies with the resources that they need to serve our community effectively,” said Sheriff Bobby Webre at the ceremony.
Sheriff Webre said the new headquarter will serve as a symbol of APSO’s commitment to protecting the safety and well-being of the community.
“It’s more than just a building; more than just brick and mortar. It will be a beacon of safety.”
Webre said the local community will feel as if it has its own police department with district 3’s new full-service sheriff’s office location. They will no longer have to drive to Gonzales to visit APSO.
“We understand the importance of having a strong, physical law enforcement presence in our community, and this facility will ensure that our deputies are well-equipped to respond to your needs promptly and efficiently,” he added.
The new headquarter is projected to cost $4.6 million and is utilizing funds from the State. Webre expects the facility will be completed by August 2025.
