ST. AMANT — Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies have arrested two people in connection with the death of a 47-year-old woman whose body was discovered in late April.
Brigitte Becker, 61, of Gonzales, and Lawrence Coco III, 63, of Darrow are both charged with unlawful disposal of human remains and failure to seek assistance, per the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday, April 23, around 8 a.m., APSO deputies responded to a report of a woman’s body found on Rountree Road in St. Amant. Once at the scene, deputies confirmed the body and identified her as 47-year-old Crystal Odell.
An autopsy was later completed, and a preliminary toxicology screening suggested that Odell’s death was due to an overdose involving a mixture of narcotics, per APSO. Through an investigation, detectives learned that Odell was last seen with Lawrence Coco and Brigitte Becker.
Detectives confirmed that both Coco and Becker were with Odell prior to her death and were in the area where her body was found shortly before deputies were notified.
Detectives obtained warrants for both Coco and Becker in connection to Odell’s death. The suspects were later located in East Feliciana Parish and taken into custody as fugitives from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
