NAPOLEONVILLE — A 35-year-old man was arrested, accused of having sex with a child under 14 years. That same man was out on bond and awaiting trial for unrelated charges of rape and molestation, among other charges.
Assumption Parish deputies arrested Cody Cullen Landry of Pierre Part on multiple charges from an ongoing investigation. Assumption Parish detectives began investigating after receiving a complaint that indicated a child was the victim of sex crimes.
During the investigation, detectives identified Landry as the accused perpetrator of the crimes. According to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, Landy allegedly had sex with a minor under the age of 14 on multiple occasions over a period of nearly three years.
As the investigation progressed, detectives got an arrest warrant for Landry. Deputies arrested Landry on March 25 as he appeared in court for a criminal jury trial on unrelated charges. The charges he was on trial for included:
- Third-degree rape
- Molestation of a juvenile
- Sexual battery
Landry’s trial was continued due to a motion by the defense.
The presiding judge revoked andry’s original bond and ordered him held without bail.
Landry was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on the new charges of: 3 counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. He remains in jail pending a bond hearing on the new charges.
