PIERRE PART — The man accused of shooting a man and grazing Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon with a bullet is out of the hospital, and has been booked on multiple felony charges.
Paul Blanchard Jr., 60, has been hospitalized since the October 16 shooting on Bayou Drive. He was discharged today, and following the booking process, was transferred to a Louisiana state prison facility for continued medical treatment in the prison infirmary, according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.
He is facing multiple charges, including two counts of attempted first degree murder, hate crimes, aggravated burglary, three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and aggravated assault on a police officer.
When Blanchard shot toward Sheriff Falcon, a deputy discharged his gun, hitting Blanchard, according to Louisiana State Police.
The man Blanchard allegedly shot was hospitalized with serious injuries. Sheriff Falcon suffered minor injuries.
Blanchard will remain in prison pending a bond hearing.
