NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff’s deputies are wanting to warn everyone against a new scam they have learned of recently.
It comes after the Assumption Sheriff’s Office received reports from the public of people calling residents in the Parish and representing themselves as sheriff’s office employees.
Assumption officials said the caller tells the residents that they have outstanding arrest warrants that can be resolved by paying money. The caller then instructs the resident how to make a payment.

Assumption Sheriff Leland Falcon advises all residents to be wary of such calls and went further to call it a scam.
“We do not solicit money by phone for any reason,” said Sheriff Falcon. “Under no circumstances should you send money in response to these calls.”
Anyone with any questions is asked to call the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985-369-2912.
