BATON ROUGE — A man riding a bicycle died on Saturday after an unknown vehicle hit him, according to Baton Rouge Police. Homicide detectives are now investigating the fatal crash.
It was around 9:38 p.m. on Dec. 6 when officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and a bicyclist. The bicyclist, identified as 30-year-old Aaron Augustus Jr. was riding east on the Mohican-Prescott Crossover heading toward Beechwood Drive. That’s when a vehicle appears to have hit the bike from behind, according to officials.
Witnesses on the scene told BRPD that the unknown driver and passenger of the vehicle allegedly stopped briefly before leaving the scene without calling 911 or helping Augustus.
Augustus was transported to a local hospital, but died of his injuries.
