BATON ROUGE — Law enforcement officials are currently on the scene of a body found in a canal in Baton Rouge.
It was around 3:15 p.m. when a crew working around the area thought they saw a body in a canal. Baton Rouge Police and East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene confirming that it was a body.
The scene is in the 6100 block of Sanchez St. That’s off of Airline Highway near the Old Mississippi River Bridge. The small waterway is not directly off the main road.
At this time, it’s too early to say if foul play is suspected or this is an overdose or natural death. All that would be determined by the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office in an autopsy. No further details have been released at this time.
