Baton Rouge: Car drove into an apartment triggering a gas leak

BATON ROUGE — St. George Firefighters remain on the scene of a car vs. building that triggered a gas leak.

The accident happened just before 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 15 on Anne Marie Dr., that’s off of Gardere Lane between Nicholson & Burbank.

Officials say a driver went through an apartment at the Riverland Apartments on Anne Marie Dr. The cause of that crash remains under investigation as the driver fled the scene. That crash caused a gas leak that is now under control.

It’s also why people were asked to avoid the area around the apartments.

There were no reported injuries but two people have been displaced due to the wreck.

The apartment building that was hit is now deemed stable since firefighters stabilized it before leaving the scene.
