New details: Fight lead to deadly shooting and Baton Rouge’s fifth homicide in three days

BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge police say a fight between two men led a deadly shooting near Istrouma High School Tuesday evening.

Christopher Jackson and another unidentified male got into a physical altercation around 3:30 p.m. May 23, according to BRPD. Police say Jackson was shot during that altercation and died at the scene.

The other man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This all took place less than a mile from Istrouma High on Wilmot St near N. Foster Dr. and Winbourne Ave.

This is reportedly the fifth homicide in Baton Rouge since Sunday morning in what has been a violent few days in the Capital City.

BRPD says this the Wilmot shooting is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP.
