Baton Rouge: Deadly wreck involving stolen vehicle ends with a shooting

BATON ROUGE — A 14-year-old child died and two others were injured after a wreck involving a stolen vehicle that ended with a shooting.

It happened around 9:45 a.m. at Fuqua near N. 22nd streets on Tuesday, Dec. 5 in Baton Rouge.

It involved a Chevrolet Silverado truck that was reported stolen out of Zachary on Dec. 1, 2023. The person driving the truck is said to have hit a car. The impact flipped the car trapping two people inside. A 14-year-old child died in the crash while another person had to be extricated out of the vehicle and rushed to a hospital.

Sources tell UWK after the crash, two people got out of the stolen truck wearing ski masks and ran off, allegedly after firing off some rounds. No one was hit from any of the bullets but sources confirmed one of the involved vehicles does have bullet holes in it.

EMS said two people were transported to an area hospital. Their current conditions are unknown at this time.

Officials are still trying to piece together exactly what happened and what led up to the shooting. Officials are also currently searching for the two who fled the scene with ski masks.
