Scott Overby, owner of Doe’s Eat Place, emphasized that Restaurant Week arrives at a crucial time for many restaurants. “Well, it comes at the right time of the summer. You’re getting people on vacation. Restaurants are slower this time of the year, so yeah, it comes at the right time and helps make ends meet,” he told UWK.
Overby detailed how many restaurants put out new items or things they would like to see on the menu during restaurant week to see the public reaction.

“All the restaurants are putting out some great menus and trying different things to bolster their menu for the rest of the year. So it’s a good time to come out and try several different restaurants at reasonably priced menus,” he said.
It’s something area director for Rouj Creole Stick Newchurch agrees with.
“Restaurant Week really is what kicks off the year for us. It also gives our chef an opportunity to be creative with such a unique menu and offerings. Our staff really gets excited about serving these unique items to our guests. Restaurant Week also allows us to give our guest a great experience that does have some value associated with this menu that gives you more bang for your buck!”
Restaurant Week in Baton Rouge is not just a celebration of the city’s vibrant food culture but also a vital event for local businesses. From July 22-27, residents and visitors have the perfect chance to explore a wide variety of culinary delights at special prices, all while helping local businesses.
“I’ll do almost a month’s worth of business in one week. So, of course, your employees are working overtime. It’s stressful for them, but we’ll get through it,” he noted.
“Thank you to the customers. Thank you for your support over the years. It’s good advertising for us to do a week-long menu like this. It’s bringing a lot of new people in the door. So if I can get some new faces in and show them how my service team, my servers, my cooks, everybody can just try so hard to put out a great meal, I get them in there, they’re gonna come back.”
