BATON ROUGE — Three people have been charged after an an undercover firearm-trafficking operation turned violent and left an ATF agent grazed by a bullet on June 17, 2025.
Torion Bobbs, 20, and Cordell Simms, 19, are each charged with assault on a federal officer and robbery. Caylup Anderson, 18, is charged with robbery and aiding and abetting.
Federal officials say on Tuesday, June 17, around 2 p.m., ATF agents arranged two separate gun buys equipped with a machine-gun conversion device (sometimes called a “Glock switch”) outside the Triple S Food Mart on North Foster Drive. When agents moved in to arrests the suspects, gunfire erupted, injuring one ATF agent and Sims.
All three suspects initially fled the scene, but Sims was arrested nearby. Anderson and Bobb were arrested soon after.
“Our office has zero tolerance for assaults on law enforcement officers,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Travis. “When criminals raise a gun at those who protect our communities, we will answer with the full force of federal law. Yesterday’s swift federal charges reflect the seamless teamwork of the FBI, ATF, Baton Rouge Police Department, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Louisiana State Police. Their rapid, coordinated response ensured these defendants were taken off the streets within hours of the crime.”
A large perimeter has been set up as multiple agencies respond after a shooting that left an ATF agent shot at, grazed by a bullet.
