BATON ROUGE — Multiple credible sources confirm to UWK that roughly 10 subpoenas were issued this week to current council members and the former mayor-president as part of the ongoing investigation involving the Attorney General’s Office and the FBI.
The investigation has already led to multiple indictments and arrests, but had been quiet in recent months.

Now, UWK has learned the investigation is ramping back up.
Several current council members have received subpoenas ordering them to testify before a grand jury. The subpoenas do not outline the subject of questioning, only the date and location for their appearance.
Sources confirm council members Rowdy Gaudet, Anthony Kenney, Denise Amoroso, Darryl Hurst and Brandon Noel are among those subpoenaed. Former East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome has also received a subpoena, according to sources.
The subpoenas do not indicate any wrongdoing. They are legal orders requiring individuals to appear and answer questions under oath.
Broader investigation
The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office has said the investigation remains active, with the possibility of additional indictments.
UWK has learned the CATS corruption probe originated at the federal level. Multiple sources say FBI subpoenas issued in 2024, including at the mayor-president’s office, helped uncover alleged misconduct tied to CATS contracts.

Sources say subpoenas were served on July 25, 2024, at the office of then-Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, several East Baton Rouge Parish council members, and the parish attorney’s office. Investigators also seized multiple cell phones, though officials have not said whose devices were taken.
It remains unclear who within the mayor-president’s office was the specific target of those subpoenas. However, multiple credible sources confirm to UWK that Broome received a target letter from the FBI, indicating she was under federal investigation.
Several people have already been questioned, and sources say the investigation is ongoing.
