Tanker truck fire shuts down I-10 eastbound near Bluebonnet in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE — Interstate 10 has now reopened after it was shut down near the Bluebonnet exit due to a tanker truck catching fire Tuesday afternoon.

Louisiana State Police and East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies worked the scene, and all eastbound lanes were closed. St. George firefighters extinguished the flames.

UWK has learned the fire may have started with a tire on the big rig and then spread to the tanker. The truck pulling the tanker appears to have disconnected and moved forward to safety. No injuries have been reported.

Drivers were being rerouted to exit I-10 at Essen Lane and can re-enter the interstate at Siegen Lane.

No further details have been released at this time.
