Baton Rouge interstate shooting leaves mother dead

BATON ROUGE, La. — Baton Rouge Police are investigating a deadly interstate shooting that left a 17-yr-old mother dead.

It happened around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25th on Interstate 110 near the Hollywood St. exit.

The victim is 17-yr-old Nykobia Keller, and she was headed back to her own home off the Hollywood St. exit after dropping off her boyfriend, Kepler’s family told Unfiltered with Kiran.

“She was a loving and caring young woman and loved being a mom,” Keller’s aunt Mary Roberson said. “She had a 4-yr-old. She was fun loving and the laugh of every party. I want justice for her because they didn’t have to do my baby like that.”

Officers pieced together that Keller and another passenger were in a vehicle driving northbound on I-110 when a car pulled up alongside them and started shooting.

It’s unclear at this time why the occupant(s) of that car shot.

When police arrived on the scene of the interstate shooting, Keller had already died from her injuries. The passenger in the vehicle was not injured. An autopsy will be performed to confirm cause of death on Keller.

The car whose occupant(s) shot at the two women fled the scene.

East Baton Rouge Sharon Weston Broome issued a statement in response to Keller’s death on the Baton Rouge interstate shooting:
