Baton Rouge | July 4th fireworks disrupted with gunfire and two injured

BATON ROUGE – As July 4th was coming to a close in Baton Rouge, some individuals were setting off fireworks on N. Mall Dr., off of Siegen Lane, when suddenly, there was a shooting and gunfire erupted.

Sources tell Unfiltered with Kiran that around 11:50 p.m., BRPD officers responded to the shopping area near Conn’s Furniture and Kohl’s on Siegen Lane following reports of a shooting. However, upon arrival, the officers were unable to locate evidence of a July 4th shooting.

Shortly after midnight on July 5, it was reported that two individuals had arrived at a Baton Rouge hospital with gunshot wounds. Both victims claimed they had been shot while on N. Mall Dr., where a car meet and fireworks display had been taking place.

Amidst the fireworks, the crowd realized they had heard nearly half a dozen shots being fired. Two of those bullets struck individuals, with one person being shot in the back and the other being hit in the shoulder.

No further details regarding the shooting have been provided.
