BATON ROUGE — A man is facing charges after Baton Rouge Police say he allegedly hit a man in the head while impersonating a police officer.
James Bell Jr., 51, was taken to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and is being charged with aggravated battery and false impersonation of a police officer.
In a report, BRPD says Bell caught a potential burglary suspect who was allegedly trying to steal from a school in the 5800 block of Packard Street on Friday, Sept. 6.
Police say that the burglary suspect accused Bell of hitting him in the head with a gun.
Bell allegedly told BRPD officers that he was a reserve law enforcement officer with a local agency, but BRPD says further investigation showed that was not true.
