BATON ROUGE — The FBI’s New Orleans Division is asking for information about a Baton Rouge man charged with the first-degree rape of a minor.
Anthony Jelks Jr. is accused of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl and giving her a sexually transmitted disease. He also faces charges of soliciting a minor and indecent behavior with juveniles.
Now, the FBI is working with the Baton Rouge Police Department to determine whether a federal crime may have been committed and to identify any additional victims.

BATON ROUGE — A man who is accused of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl and giving her a sexually transmitted disease, is facing new charges involving a minor.
Baton Rouge Police arrested Anthony Jelks Jr., 25, on Oct. 1. His new charges include computer aided solicitation of a minor and indecent behavior with juveniles. Both are felony charges.
Earlier this year, police arrested Jelks for first-degree rape. Jelks turned himself into police on Sept. 8, following a month-long investigation involving the alleged sexual assault of a four-year-old girl.
The complainant in the case said the victim stayed overnight at Jelks’ home from August 1 to 2, and that’s when the alleged crime happened. When the complainant was giving the little girl a bath, they noticed concerning redness and irritation, and the girl said it was caused by Jelks.
The complainant immediately took her to the hospital, and a sexual assault nurse examiner collected forensic evidence. The victim was also tested for sexually transmitted diseases, and it was discovered the four-year-old tested positive for one.
The Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center interviewed the victim, where she described disturbing details about what allegedly happened when she was at Jelks’ home.
During the investigation, police detectives learned Jelks was investigated by Baton Rouge Police Department for indecent behavior with a juvenile in 2022. That case involved attempts to solicit lewd videos and pictures from a 9-year-old girl on Instagram.
